Year 3 invited parents in to classes to share in our Carnival day. We prepared for our visitors by making sandwiches – including the packaging.
Together, we created Mardi Gras masks, shared our sandwiches and provided our guests with some light entertainment!
Thank you to all the parents, carers, grandparents, aunties, uncles, brothers and sisters who came in to join with the fun!
On Friday, Even Swindon ran around the school in support of Sports Relief. Every year group got a chance to take part, two laps made up a mile (some ran even more!). Check out some of the photos from the day below.
Year 6 have been using their reflecting skills when learning a new skill this term – reading a compass!
On Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th March, Year 5 went on a local area walk around Swindon to learn more about the Great Western Railway that Brunel created. We walked around the railway village and saw many different buildings including the mechanic’s institute, the Bakers arms public house and the original church. We also saw the water tower and the GWR school which in 1847 had a class size of 168 pupils!
For our ‘Fly me to the Moon’ topic, Year 4 went to visit the Winchester Science Centre to experience many hands on activities as well as visit the Planetarium. Whilst in the Planetarium cinema, the children experienced the film ‘Astronaut’ where they learnt all about what it takes to become an astronaut. They had the opportunity to see the amazing worlds of inner and outer space, from microscopic regions of the human body to the International Space Station in this exploration of shuttle-era human space flight. We all had great fun and enjoyed the additional hands on experiments that were located throughout the centre.
On Thursday 1st March, we celebrated World Book Day. We each came dressed as our favourite book character – check out our selfies!
Dawlish Class have been busy investigating how to construct difference 3D shapes
In Term 3 we studied the Romans. We were lucky enough to have our very own Roman visit us in school, he taught us about battle formations, how to fire a cross bow and how the Romans used to live in Ancient Britain.
In preparation for our parent cafe, Year 1 have been tasting different fruits so we can then design a smoothie using our favourite fruits. We look forward to serving our smoothies to our parents next Friday at our parent cafe.
