On Friday the 28th March, we had a wonderful concert to celebrate mother’s day. Year 6, and all the other year groups throughout the afternoon, all sang a song for the Mum’s of Even Swindon. Year 6 sang “Count on Me” and some photos of the event can be seen below.
During term 2, Year 6 made robots using the BBC Microbit. The children used their DT, coding and teamwork skills to design, make and code their robots in small groups. We were very lucky to have some support from the Digital School House team at New College. Whilst at New College, the children learned all of the amazing things the Microbit could do which inspired them to create their unique designs. Our finished robots were completed to a high standard with lots of funky and interesting designs.
This week the whole school have been taking part in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) week. Year 3 have been dissolving seashells using acid, Year 2 have been investigating and making rockets and Year 6 have been dissecting hearts! There are lots more activities to come.. watch this space!
Year 6 have been using their reflecting skills when learning a new skill this term – reading a compass!
Several children from Year 3 up to Year 6 went to Lydiard Park Academy to take part in the Annual Cross Country Competition, where the children run a mile around the grounds of the school and part of Lydiard Park. All the teams performed brilliantly but most notable were the performances of the Year 3/4 Boys who finished in 3rd place overall and the Year 5/6 Girls team who finished as the champions for Swindon.
Well done everyone though!
Year 6 have had a fantastic time at Coleshill experiencing what life was like in WW2.
