Year 6

Term 1 Summary:

Our Year 6 classes have settled in well and had a busy first term.  Our enquiry question ‘Who were the real winners of war?’ has underpinned our enquiry lessons where we’ve had a chance to find out more about the war, including the impact it would have had on children.

One morning late in the term, we had some exciting news.  We were invited out onto the field to see a suspected WW2 plane, which was discovered in our hedgerow!  In our English lessons, we then wrote reports to share this news.

In Science, we’ve enjoyed investigating light, including how it travels and even how rainbows are formed.  During our reading time, we’ve been transported to Narnia by our class text, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis.  All of this, and the children also had their first introduction to SATs past papers to give them the chance to become familiar and comfortable with them.  All in all, a fantastic start to the year.
