Young Carers

At Even Swindon Primary School we are committed to supporting Young Carers.

Young Carers are children and young people, up to the age of 18, whose lives are affected by looking after someone. This may be a parent, brother, sister or other family member.

The person they look after will have one or more of the following:

A Young Carer will take on additional responsibilities to those appropriate to their age and development. A Young Carer might be providing the main care or share responsibilities with someone else.

The care they give may be physical and /or emotional. These responsibilities may include:

At Even Swindon Primary School we are here to support Young Carers during their time at school. We offer opportunities for Young Carers to talk to each other, and we provide a listening ear in a calm place to talk and reflect. Once a term, we will have some down time, having fun outside of a classroom environment, doing an activity that may be unachievable at home.

If you are a Young Carer and would like to become involved in the Young Carer’s group, then please let your teacher, Miss Sly or Carol Chard know.
