‘A parent-teacher association (PTA) is a formal organisation composed of parents, teachers and staff that is intended to facilitate parental participation in a school’.
The aim of the ‘Friends’ is to organise events to raise money to pay for school equipments and resources. We have been very successful in recent events and have, in consultation with the Head and other teachers, facilitated the purchase of:
- Donation to the allotment on school grounds
- PA system
- Clothing for sports events incorporating the school logo
- Shed for gardening equipments
- Annual production by an outside agency of themed pantomimes’
- Freezer
- Funded Cookery Club for pupils
YOU can make a real contribution to YOUR child’s school. If you can give some of your time, we are always grateful. Some of our members cannot attend meetings but a helping hand at the school fete, etc, is a great contribution.
Some of our events in just the last year have been very successful, and here is a list of some of the events the children have thoroughly enjoyed:
- Disco (Easter, Summer & Halloween)
- Easter Egg Hunt
- Balloon Race
- Year 6 production
- Summer fete
- Christmas fayre
- Christmas Sweet Sale
- Personalised Chocolate eggs
Becoming a ‘Friend’ is an excellent way to get to know people, become involved and make new friends. You don’t need any qualifications or experience of how the school is ran to help. As a member you can have more influence on choosing what events we organise, and how the funds are then used to help the children.
Ideas are discussed at our meetings, and these are held roughly every four weeks. Forthcoming dates will be listed below and in the weekly school newsletter. If you can spare the time we would love to see you, but of course if you need any details, please contact any of the committee members, and they will be happy to advise.
