Year 4 have had a visitor – Oliver Parr – this week who is part of the REME Museum – Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Museum.

Our afternoon involved learning about engineering within the military. We were then set the task of becoming jet propulsion engineers in order to build lego moon rovers to move across the surface of the moon. Our aim was to give it good grip, a tough frame, a powerful engine and be able to carry a crew.

In teams of three, the children worked throughout the afternoon to build their crafts which involved using gears, pulleys, cogs and simple circuits to generate electricity – reinforcing our learning on circuits form the beginning of our term. It was a fantastic learning opportunity for our children and they had an engaging afternoon raising to the challenge.
